65 - Fenton Boogie – 22/11/11
bit worried at first. Nick and Andrei late due to technical difficulties but finally arrived by about 8.15 so just started a bit late. Also, not very many people in at all but luckily it filled up a bit as the night went on.
Miranda and Jacob came again and they both seem to bring their own brand of happiness when they turn up, seems to make the room just a little bit brighter and happier.
Had a woman come up to me after and say
Lady: ‘You know that poem you did about the fighting and the riots?’
Me: ‘Yeah, Bullies and Thieves’
Lady: ‘Were you happy using the word chav?’
Me: ‘well, yeah, I guess, [completely thrown by the question] it fitted with the rhythm and it said what it meant to about people like that…[or some such stuff like that]’
Lady: ‘We’re not all like that you know’
Me: :-0
What with her and the ‘tranny’ lady, I’ve upset 2 people now in the space of a week. And I’m sticking with Ben’s line, ‘Welcome to Punk Poetry’
If you think I’m talking about you then I probably am.
SET LIST
Health Fanatic
Hire Car
Chicken Town (alternate verses)
Bullies & Thieves
X-Factor
Never Trust a Bishop
64 - Carpe (17-11-11)
Not exactly many people in. Possibly a total of 40 all night and with no one really listening to /watching the bands.
Played my set to an almost empty room but still did OK I think.
And someone spoke to me afterwards to say that they were offended by the word ‘tranny’ in the Bishop poem – because, ‘as a trans-gender person myself I find it rude/offensive’ (don’t think that was the word but close) – I did politely point out that it’s clearly transvestites not transgender but apparently it’s all the same. And the fact that I’m expressing my disgust at members of the clergy that hide behind the cloth whilst abusing young children is irrelevant because I used that word.
No idea if I’m right or wrong but as Ben said, ‘Welcome to Punk Poetry’
Also didn’t leave the pub until 4.45 a.m. (oops)

63 - 16-11-11
Got a bit upset tonight. Some stupid racist sod in the pub managed to wind me up inside and ended up at home feeling like I used to. Which just lead to me getting more upset with myself.
Got through it without any badness though.,
62 - Dirt (Metal Night)
Douchebag McFuck (the guy who won the X-factor according to Keegan) was turning on the lights in town hall square so quite appropriate me doing my set at the same time.
X-Factor one went down really well again. it really is most popular.
Saw half of BlackWater who are great as always then popped next door to watch Red Pills then back to Carpe for Deep in the Mire.
A most excellent way to spend one’s evening.

61 - Fenton 8-11-11
Almost seems to have just been one long jam tonight. Which was great.
Hutch turned up which is cool as he’s not been out for ages. Good to see him play again.
Nick had to leave early ish to get the coach to London for his costume fitting for Anna Karenina – which is awesome.
Met a guy called Ozzy who loved my stuff and bought me a Tequila (my first, very interesting) and asked if he could film me doing a set one day and do it as a kind of documentary about what I do :-0
Set list,
Morning Poem
Bullies & Thieves
